Hey guys, you remember when Final Fantasy was actual good and worth playing?
...Yeah, that was nearly 15 years ago, and no, I'm not counting Final Fantasy X...

Now my knowledge on Final Fantasy as a whole is rather... limited... mainly because I've only played three of the games (FF 4, FF 7, and FF 8) however that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the other games via playthroughs on Youtube.
If there is one Final Fantasy game that I wish I could play, it'd definitely want to play the criminally underrated and sadly unknown Final Fantasy IX.
Final Fantasy IX probably also has one of my more favorite female characters in the whole series.
Of course she is a giant anthro rat woman, but that's besides the point.
I present the Dragoon Knight hailing from the kingdom of Burmecia, Miss Freya Crescent.

In the storyline of Final Fantasy IX Freya the wandering Dragoon Knight left her homeland of Burmecia to find her lover Sir Fratley after his mysterious disappearance.
The hero of Final Fantasy IX; Zidane knows Freya as they are "old friends" and finds her in a bar in Lindblum just before the Festive of the Hunt.
Word spreads of Alexandria declaring war on Burmecia reaches Freya as Zidane and company join her to save her kingdom.
It's far too late when they reach Burmecia as most if not all of the guards of the city are dead or slowly dying.
As they continue the gang find out that a man named Kuja was manufactured the Black Mage army for Alexandria to wage war on the neighboring kingdoms.
The heroes try to defeat Kuja but are utterly out matched and are defeated by him as he flies away to cause more havoc.
Eventually Freya meets up with Sir Fratley after 7 years, she pours her heart out to him and is overjoyed to know he isn't dead.
Sadly Fratley can't return those feelings of love for one main reason... he has amnesia!
Freya is utterly distraught after hearing this, and cannot believe the irony that he has forgotten her even if she hasn't.
That's all I'll reveal on Freya's story, if you want to know the rest, go play Final Fantasy IX.
One of the main reasons I love Freya is because despite all of the awful things that she goes through, she doesn't even get to the point of breaking down and crying like some other Final Fantasy female do...
No, instead she sucks it up because Freya knows that she'll be no help to anyone if she is a blabbering, crying mess of a women.

So with a little bit of Freya's backstory explained, let's talk about the picture.
I'll say this right now that is, I repeat, this isn't Freya's original costume design, as I simple wanted to do a redesign from her.
She is a Dragoon Knight for cornsake and yet out of all of the Dragoon Knights in Final Fantasy, she wears the least ammount of armor for some reason...
Also, I wanted to make Freya's design to show some more "skin" but in a respectable, so I just removed her pants and gave her a unitard to wear.
That and she clearly has more armor on then she did in game.
But you want to know what the hardest part of Freya was? her fur and hair.
Sadly I had to look on e621 for so reference on Freya, but to my surprise, she isn't as much as a cumduptser like other furry females.
With all of those references I've seen they were never really consistent.
Sometimes her fur and hair was white, sometimes her hair was a light blue color, and a few times Freya's fur was a light peachy color...
I was going nuts with how I was going to color her, and then I stumbled across the Final Fantasy Wiki and found an official ref sheet of Freya from the Final Fantasy IX artbook, and went off of that for.
So in that term that makes Freya's fur an ash grey and hair platinum blonde.

Overall the work on Freya was surprisingly easy, everything just kinda came together rather well, and I have to say I love the way this picture turned out.
Freya long and slender body worried me for a while as I hoping I made her look like she is supposed to, but I think I did Freya justice as I just love her and Final Fantasy IX so much.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for a Final Fantasy IX remake so time in the future... like 20 years from now...
...We are never going to have another Final Fantasy IX are we Square Enix...?
