Midna (Imp Form)

Description

And now for something, completely different.
Let's talk about The Legend of Zelda for a second, I love The Legend of Zelda series.
The story, the characters, the items, the temples and dungeons, you name, it's all fun to me.
But some Zelda games I like over others, in fact this character is from probably my favorite 3D Zelda game; sorry Ocarina of Time, you have been replaced.

This is Midna A.K.A. The Twilight Princess, she is one of the main characters in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Her goal in the game is to regain her place as the ruler of the Twilight Realm, after being overthrown by Zant and his newly gained power thanks to Ganondorf.
To make sure Midna wouldn't be able to fight back her cursed Midna turning her into an Imp, and scattering the pieces of the broken Fused Shadow so it couldn't be used against him.
After her banishment by Zant, Midna swore to get revenge on Zant and retake her rulership and kingdom; for she was able to keep one piece of the Fused Shadow (Now wearing it as a helmet) for herself and went to the Light World (Hyrule) to go and find the other pieces.
Searching in Hyrule, Midna comes across a Shadow Breast digging an unconscious Link (stuck as a wolf in the Twilight Realm) to the overthrown Hyrule Castle, covered in Twilight.
Knowing the legend of the Twili people the stories foretold of a hero saving the Twilight Realm in the form of a "Divine Beast" Minda follows Link to his prison cell inside the Hyrule Castle Sewers.
Midna meets with Link ask says she'll help him out, but for a piece of course.
She'll help Link get freed for his prison, so long as Link does everything Midna tells him to do; at this point Link has no choice but to help her, with that set in stone Midna gets someone she can use to retrieve the missing Fused Shadow pieces for her thus making her plot to take back her kingdom some much easier.
After gaining back the 3 missing parts of the Fused Shadow Link and Midna are ambushed by Zant at Lanayru Spring, where Zant thrusts a dark crystal in inside Link's head forcing him to become a wolf again without being able to transform back to a human.
with Link out of the way, Zant tortures Midna with the light of the spirit Lanayru, fatally wounding her in the process.
With Link stuck as a wolf and Midna on his back near, death and trying to cling to life the young hero rushes to Hyrule Castle, hoping to have Zelda help Midna.
The dying Midna, no longer caring for her sake, asks that Zelda tell Link how to break his curse since he is the only one who can defeat Zant.
As a last request, Midna pleads to Zelda to inform Link where he can find the Mirror of Twilight and Zelda, having heard this, chooses to revive her by transferring her soul within Midna's body, disappearing in the process.
After seeing the unselfish acts made by Zelda and Link, Midna has a change of heart and vows to help save Hyrule from Zant.
The duo eventually arrive to the Gerudo Desert, where Midna asks for Link's help now with the Master Sword in his hands, in finding the Mirror of Twilight, their last potential link to Zant.

And with that I just pretty much sum up the first half of Twilight Princess, I'd keep going but let's not make this a novel.
Now I think the main reason I like Midna so much is because she go through something most side characters in Zelda be go through, character development; REAL development, like through every part in the game, not one part only.
When you first meet up with Midna she doesn't look very trustworthy and the fact that she is only using you for clearly her own agenda doesn't help matters either.
But as the adventure goes, she starts to trust you more and more, and pretty much after her near death experience with Zant, and seeing the selflessness of Link and Zelda, she turns over a new leaf and realizes that Zant not only is a treat to her and the Twilight Realm, but to all of Hyrule too.
That and she has a nice bit of plot twist when the Sages flat out tell you that Midna is the Twilight Princess.
I just felt that Twilight Princess really made you care about Midna in the by possible way, she is with you throughout the entire journey, and she is able to help Link in why that he wouldn't be able to do by himself.
By the very end, you can see that Midna cares deeply for Link, and boy did that bitter-sweet end spawn so many fanfics and MidnaXLink ships.
Midna was definitely a great companion character for Link, too bad that none of the other side-kick characters got any better or as good as Midna.

As for the work on this picture...
UUHHHGGG...
The coloring took forever, I think it's safe to say the I have to color over everything on this picture twice, her body, her Fused Shadow with all on it's fucking nutty designs, her hair, and even her eyes!
But, I way trying my best to make this look exactly or very close to what she looks like in game.
Yes I know that the Fused Shadow may have gone off the page, and all of the design may not be 100% correct, but I had to simplify a few things if only not to stress over every little detail.
The good news is that as of this years E3 we now know that Midna will be appearing in the upcoming Hyrule Warriors as a playable character, and she'll be an assist trophy in Super Smash Brothers. 4.
Not sure if I'll draw Midna in her true form as The Twilight Princess, but I'll give it some thought if this picture gets a decent amount of attention, also not not for a first attempt if I do say so myself.
So hear you guys go, see? I play more than Pokemon.
